So You Want To Hunt on Dynamis

Are you an experienced hunter visiting or moving here from another Data Center? Read this guide for information about Dynamis hunt culture and norms, as well as how-to guides for our hunt tools!

As mentioned on the front page here, Dynamis hunt culture is one of positivity, inclusivity, accessibility, and mutual aid. We value a slower pace that allows folks of all levels of experience and ability to be able to get involved in the community. For example, many folks will volunteer to “shuttle” around passengers on a train who can’t fly in a certain zone, and we will hold our pull times for train marks, as well as S ranks for a decently long time to ensure more people have the ability to arrive on scene and participate. We hope to maintain this culture as the data center grows and respectfully request that visitors and newcomers abide by our valued cultural norms.

It’s most important to note that the Dynamis hunt community almost exclusively utilizes Faloop to coordinate hunts. So your first step: Be sure you are registered on the Faloop website and Discord, and have requested permissions for Dynamis specific hunts! If you’re not sure how to do this, see our getting started guide!

INFORMATION FOR CONDUCTORS AND SCOUTS

We don’t have a schedule for trains, nor do we require folks to run trains only on their home world. Trains are run by whoever is up for it at the time, and we coordinate with each other in the dynamis-conductors Discord channel to track who is working on what. There is a thread in that channel for the train queue where folks can indicate what they are working on or planning for the day. While it’s not uncommon for one scout or one conductor to multiscout/multiconduct one thing after another, it’s polite not to claim all the trains at once without checking in with others to see if they had wanted to take part in something. Dynamis also doesn’t usually have the attendance to be able to run multiple trains at once, so we don’t typically overlap trains.

For conductors:

*Be sure to read our Getting Started guide if you aren’t already setup with permissions on Faloop!

The Conductors channel (dynamis-conductors) serves as a place for scouts and conductors to coordinate their work so that they don’t duplicate efforts on the same task.

Scouts use the dynamis-train-spam channel to post the links to the scouts they have completed. Conductors will pick up the scouts from that channel when they are ready to roll.

For scouts:

Prime Hunt Tools Scouting Map (website)

This is the tool that scouts use to track the hunt marks they locate. This tool creates a shared link that can be posted into the Faloop discord and shared with the conductors there!

INFORMATION FOR SPAWNERS

*Be sure to read our Getting Started guide if you aren’t already setup with permissions on Faloop!

The Spawners channel (dynamis-spawners) serves as a place for spawners across Dynamis to coordinate their work so that they don’t duplicate efforts on the same task.

Dynamis Faloop Permissions Rundown

Being granted access to the Faloop tool by a Dynamis Assistant means that you have agreed to abide by the rules below.

  • For continued full access to EA and layered scheduling, we ask that marks be released to the general public in good faith efforts. It is strongly preferred that a pull time is set within our suggested PT windows of 3 to 5 minutes. (Exceptions happen of course)
  • Per Faloop’s Guidelines (linked above), do not participate in activities that could be interpreted as Hunt Disruption such as (examples include, but are not limited to the following):
Intentionally marking incorrect Time of Death (ToD) for any marks within the Faloop tool.

Diverting an ongoing hunt train (by calling out marks that the conductor has not yet called, or different marks in an attempt to split the train).

Early Pulling (EP) any S-Rank Mark that was spawned by another hunter without that hunter's consent: “The hunter who originally spawned an S-Rank Mark will set the Pull Time (PT) for that mark.”
    * For marks which automatically spawn (timered marks), please refer to the Guidelines section.
  • It’s recommended that PT’s be in the (3-5m) window after a mark is posted publicly to Faloop to allow other hunters time to arrive. Also sometimes listed in Eorzea time (20 minutes in EZT is equivalent to 1 minute irl). However, the hunter who spawned a mark ultimately controls that mark’s PT.
    • Rationale: Dynamis specifically leverages the Faloop Early Access queue to sequence marks to maximize the benefit to the hunt community here. As a result, there may be times that an S-Rank Mark sits in the queue until that hunter is ready to release it, as that hunter is likely coordinating the release of that mark with other hunters.
  • For marks which have contested ownership (more than one hunter claiming an S-Rank spawn), both parties should default to the Faloop guidelines and cooperate to manage that mark’s release and set PT.
  • The only current exception to this are spawns posted (or marked dead) due to an “outside source” finding it before anyone else. Those generally will not have a name attached to them. As such please player search the area (/sea) for any names you recognize before setting your own PT if no response is given.
  • If one party is clearly and intentionally violating the community rules and guidelines, please gather as much detail as you can, and open a ticket to the Dynamis Assistants team here: contact-us
    • For particularly egregious/harassing behavior, you should also open a ticket in-game to the SQEX support team.
  • The Dynamis Assistants Team works with the other FF14 other data centers to maintain a healthy hunt community. Documented violations of the hunt rules and guidelines on other data centers may result in reciprocal punishments on Dynamis, regardless of where the offending behavior occurred.

Dynamis (Faloop) Rule Violations

Intentional violations of Dynamis’s individual rules and/or the server wide guidelines (guidelines) may lead to temporary or permanent revocation of Faloop tool permissions. These situations will be reviewed by the Dynamis Assistants team on a case-by-case basis to assess the severity of the situation and determine the proper course of action. In general, Dynamis operates off a “three strikes” policy for violations:

 1. First time offenders will have their permissions temporarily removed, typically for a one to five day timeframe.

2. Second time repeat offenders will be subject to longer temporary removals, typically for a three to fourteen day timeframe.

3. Third time repeat offenders will be subject to permanent permission removals.

Players who have not exhibited any bad behavior for a duration of six to nine months, will be considered to have said strikes removed from the record. If the player was previously subject to permanent permission removal, they can re-apply for permissions after the six month mark by opening a ticket to the Dynamis Assistants team. These situations will be evaluated based on the player’s recent behavior and contributions to the Dynamis hunt community.

FAQ FOR SPAWNERS FROM THE DYNAMIS ASSISTANTS

Are these strict rules for spawning?

No, these are intended to be an overview of Dynamis culture/etiquette to present date.

How is pull time determined?

The Spawner sets the pull time and shouts it in zone in Eorzean Time. Generally, this is 5mins after faloop release for EW/ShB S ranks and 3-5mins for ARR/StB/HW S ranks- but it is entirely up to the Spawner. Whatever the Spawner shouts in chat is what gets respected by the locals. If you want a longer or shorter PT as the Spawner, that is perfectly acceptable, just please respect what other Spawners have set! For reference, 3 minutes IRL is approximately 1 hour Eorzean, and 5 minutes IRL approximate an hour and a half Eorzean.

How should I make use of Early Access on Faloop?

Generally, marks will release in queue order, with additional coordination occurring in CWLs and or dynamis-spawners [Discord Channel]. In the case where there are four in queue, and a fifth one pops up for the world that is currently “active”, it will generally jump ahead of the other four, since the hunters are all on the same world, but this is case-by-case.

This was reported on CH 20 minutes ago! Is it time to pull it yet?

Dynamis is heavily Faloop-driven, with the locals expecting the released order on Faloop to be the best coordination for everyone to get each mark. Typically, a mark that’s up on CH 20 minutes ago is already in the EA queue and is waiting its turn to be released once the active marks ahead of it have been completed. We have had cases where a mark is in queue for 40mins before its turn comes up, due to the number of marks ahead of it. Please direct hunters to the current active mark until this one is ready.

A mark I spawned has been sonar’d! Should I release it?

Coordinate with the Spawner CWLs/Discord to make a determination. Dynamis is heavily Faloop-driven, so this is not an instant “yes”, and should instead just be a factor to consider when coordinating Faloop release.
